LEREN ONLINE in brief

The core business of Leren Online B.V. is the development of interactive courseware for use on the internet. It can be used independently of any paper-based course and is ideal for self-study.

The quality of the Leren Online courseware is based on the strategic use of advanced technology in conjunction with a its author’s extensive experience as a teacher.

Presently the courseware focuses on grammar training for Dutch and English. Similar material for French and German is being developed. As yet the language of instruction in the user-interface is Dutch.

Didactic starting-point of the Leren Online courseware is that the solution should not be given away after one or two unsuccessful attempts. By means of relevant feedback and a consecutive sequence of hints and follow-up questions, the student is guided towards the correct answer. In order to make this learning by trial and error possible online, a special courseware tool had to be designed.

The subject matter is subdivided into units that can be completed within 5-8 minutes. Each subject is presented on three levels of difficulty. Thus a Leren Online course is tailor-made to the needs of all 11+ students and can be taken at any time. All you need is a computer and an internet connection.

Another special feature of a Leren Online course is its efficiency. Multimedia are used for clarification purposes only: there are no game-like interfaces or other distracting elements. The reward consists in the quickest and most effective remedy of a problem.

Using the Leren Online courseware provides teachers with more opportunities in their lessons to develop communications skills and cater for students’ individual needs. In this way teaching does not only yield more and better results, but becomes a more enjoyable experience for all those involved.
